What is Byduron? What are their Side Effects?

What is Bydureon (exenatide)?

Bydureon is a brand-name medicine used to improve blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It comes as a liquid suspension to be given by injection under the skin (subcutaneously).

Bydureon contains a medicine called extended-release exenatide.

Bydureon vs Bydureon BCise

Bydureon BCise is another form of Bydureon. It contains the same medicine (extended-release exenatide). Bydureon and Bydureon BCise work in the same way and have very similar effects in the body. You push the autoinjector against your skin, and it injects the medicine automatically.

There are fewer steps required to inject Bydureon using this autoinjector than using a syringe or pen injector. This can make Bydureon BCise easier to use than Bydureon.

In clinical studies, Bydureon reduced hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) by approximately 0.88 to 1.6 percent after 24 to 28 weeks of treatment. In the Bydureon BCise study, HbA1c was reduced by approximately 1.07 to 1.39 percent after 28 weeks of treatment.

Bydureon (exenatide) Generic

Bydureon is available only as a brand-name drug. It is not available in a generic form. Bydureon contains extended-release exenatide.
