What is Diabetes: Diabetes refers to a condition where your blood glucose (also known as blood sugar) is too high. Your main source of energy is blood glucose, which comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas. It helps glucose from your food to get into your cells for energy. Sometimes, your body doesn’t produce enough insulin or doesn’t use insulin properly. The glucose stays in your bloodstream and doesn't get to your cells. Types of Diabetes There are three main types of diabetes: type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes (diabetes while pregnant).  Type 2 diabetes is a disease in which your body does not produce enough of a hormone called insulin or does not use insulin as it should. So when there is a problem with insulin, glucose builds up in your blood. You probably have this called high blood sugar. The other two main types are gestationalgia, in which your body stops making insulin, and gestationalgia, which occurs in pregnant women.
